Spell Bowl is a part of the Indiana Association of School Principals. It’s an academic program where 4th and 5th grade students are able to challenge themselves and expand on their spelling abilities. Unlike what we see on television and in movies, students do not orally spell the words in the competition. Instead, one student per round writes out the spelling of seven (7) competition words.

After the UCE Spell Bowl team is formed with eight (8) members and three (3) alternatives, the team will meet on Friday mornings from 7:50 - 8:40 am to practice together. As the competition date gets closer, the team will also meet during each grade’s lunch time once a week.

The annual competition is in November at a local school.
